ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFITS?
In order for you to be eligible for disability benefits under Social Security, you must qualify under at least one of two (2) available programs.
Under Social Security Disability, you must have worked and paid into the program through tax deductions for a sufficient period of time, before you apply. Under this program, you will receive money and Medicare health insurance benefits.
Even if you have never worked, you may be eligible for Social Security Income based on need. However, in either case, you cannot be eligible for disability benefits if you are working.
If you are unable to work you should apply for disability benefits by contacting your local Social Security Administration office as soon as possible. Even if you have a short term or long term disability plan through work, you should apply now. Your work sponsored disability plan may tell you they want you to apply through their Social Security disability associates. The work sponsored insurance plan has its own agenda. They are not looking out for you. They are looking out for themselves. You are not required to act on their recommendation and you should not. If you have any questions, call us. Also note, once you stop working, the clock for disability benefits begins to run. If you wait too long before filing, you may run beyond the eligibility period for filing. If you do, you will be out of luck. You do not need an attorney to file for benefits. So, file now. If you are turned down, we can help.
YOUR TIME IS LIMITED!
HOW SHOULD YOU CHOOSE A LAWYER?
Consider this:
-
Is your representative an attorney?
-
You are not required to have an attorney and your representative need not be one.
-
Do you want to be represented by someone who is not an attorney?
-
-
Your legal representative has many Social Security cases to handle.
-
You have only one.
-
If your attorney loses your case, what options are you left with?
-
-
Most attorneys will NOT have met face-to-face with their clients until the day of their hearing perhaps just minutes before your case is presented to the judge.
-
How well can your attorney prepare you under these circumstances?
-
Is this the kind of attorney you want to represent you?
-
-
Your attorney has to convince the judge you are disabled.
-
The attorney must translate your medical problem into words the judge can understand. Wouldn't an attorney who is a healthcare provider do this best? That's where we come in.
