Our Founder:

       Karen Howell, an Attorney and Nurse Practitioner.

  •       Karen Howell is both a Board Certified Geriactic Nurse Practioner and an Attorney at Law.

  •          Her law practice is focused exclusively on Social Security Disability cases.

  •          Karen received her bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College of Rochester, in Rochester, NY. She then obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing in Geriatrics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has been working as a Board Certified Geriatric Nurse Practitioner since 1986, with her primary focus in Rheumatology. She has medical expertise in treating fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and other disabiling chronic arthritic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and scleroderma. Karen attended law school at the University of Pittsburgh-School of law and received her Juris Doctorate in 2000. She is licensed to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia.

  •            Since moving to Florida in 2009, she devotes her legal attention exclusively to representing clients with Social Security Disability pursuits. Her understanding of medical conditions and disease states, makes her representation of disability cases unique. There is no other lawyer in  Florida having her unique qualifications as a nurse practitioner/attorney focusing exclusively on Social Security Disability matters.

  • Karen understands your medical diagnoses, the effect it has on your life, and she has the knowledge of the law to be able to translate your medical problems into a form the judge will understand! Does your current attorney offer this expertise?

THE PRACTICE

Social Security Disability Tips:

* You must be declared medically disabled to collect Social Security Disability.

Just because you don't have a job, you cannot find work, or the work you can find does not pay enough to meet your bills, does not make you eligible for Social Security Disability. The judge must find you medically disabled and unable to do any work in the national economy. So, if you are in Florida, but there are jobs available that your medical condition would allow you to perform, the judge will find you able to work. The judge will not consider the hardship placed upon you in having to move to Chicago. He will declare you not disabled. This is where you need Karen to let the judge know why you are not eligible to perform those available jobs in Chicago.

* Don't go it alone.

You only have one case---yours. You cannot afford to experiment with it. You need an expert by your side. Your expert should be a disability lawyer---not a non-attorney advocate. You are preparing for battle. This is your one and only shot. You need the best attorney available to represent you. At GetMeDisability.com, Karen and her associates can provide the best legal representation available. GetMeDisability.com is your sword and shield.
